The disease has destructive effects on various body organs such as mouth and teeth. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between the levels of fasting blood sugar (FBS) and oral health indexes in 15-75-year-old population in Kerman City, Iran. Methods: The study recruited 5900 subjects aged 15-75 years in a household survey selected non-proportional to size using one-stage cluster sampling. The data were collected by questionnaires, clinical examination, and laboratory tests. Oral health measurements included decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) index, gingival index (GI), community periodontal index (CPI), and fasting blood glucose was measured in people, too. Statistical analysis was done using chi-square, Pearson correlation, and logistic regression tests via SPSS software. P < 0.05 was considered as the level of significance. Results: 12.7% of participants had fasting blood sugar of more than 126 mg/dl. Dental caries and periodontal disease were more observed in these subject compared to those with fasting blood sugar of equal or less than 126 mg/dl, and this difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: The study showed a significant relationship between the level of fasting blood sugar and oral health indexes. Importance of oral health in patients with diabetes mellitus was confirmed more than before.}, keywords = {Blood glucose,Decayed,missing,and filled index,Gingival index,Periodontal index}, title_fa = {بررسی رابطه بین میزان قند خون ناشتا با شاخص‌های سلامت دهان و دندان در جمعیت 15 تا 75 ساله شهر کرمان}, abstract_fa = {مقدمه:دیابت یکی از شایع‌ترین بیماری‌های مزمن در جامعه جهانی است و می‌تواند تأثیرات مخربی بر روی بسیاری از بافت‌های بدن از جمله دهان و دندان داشته باشد. هدف از انجام مطالعه حاضر، بررسی رابطه بین میزان قند خون ناشتا (Fasting blood sugar یا FBS) و شاخص‌های سلامت دهان و دندان در جمعیت 15 تا 75 ساله شهر کرمان بود. شیوه مطالعه: در این پژوهش، 5900 نفر با طیف سنی 75-15 سال و بدون نسبت خانوادگی، به روش نمونه‌گیری خوشه‌ای یک مرحله‌ای شرکت نمودند. شاخص‌های سلامت دهان شامل شاخص دندان خراب، افتاده و پرشده (Decayed, missing, and filled teeth یا DMFT)، شاخص لثه‌ای (Gingival index یا GI) و شاخص پریودنتال جامعه (Community periodontal index یا CPI) و میزان FBS افراد اندازه‌گیری شد. رابطه متغیرهای مورد مطالعه با استفاده از آزمون‌های χ2، همبستگی Pearson و Logistic regression در نرم‌افزار SPSS مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت. 0.05 > P به عنوان سطح معنی‌داری داده‌ها در نظر گرفته شد. یافته‌ها:12.7 درصد افراد شرکت‌کننده سطح FBS بالاتر از 126 میلی‌گرم بر دسی‌لیتر را نشان دادند. پوسیدگی دندان و بیماری‌های پریودنتال در افراد دارای FBS بالاتر از 126 میلی‌گرم بر دسی‌لیتر نسبت به گروه دارای قند خون مساوی یا کمتر از 126 میلی‌گرم بر دسی‌لیتر، بیشتر و تفاوت آن‌ها از لحاظ آماری معنی‌دار بود. نتیجه‌گیری: ارتباط معنی‌داری بین شاخص‌های سلامت دهان و دندان و سطح FBS وجود دارد. بنابراین، رعایت بهداشت دهان و دندان در بیماران مبتلا به دیابت بیش از پیش مورد تأیید قرار گرفت.}, keywords_fa = {گلوکز خون,شاخص دندان خراب,افتاده و پرشده,شاخص لثه‌ای,شاخص پریودنتال}, url = {https://ajcr.kmu.ac.ir/article_57808.html}, eprint = {https://ajcr.kmu.ac.ir/article_57808_14a8a5269a0e37c0d061df24249f4005.pdf} }
